We’ve all been waiting for an AV1 decoder that gives us a high level of speed and efficiency. The wait is over. Because now there’s dav1d, a new, open-source AV1 decoder written from scratch. Collaborated on by Two Orioles, VideoLabs and MultiCoreWare, dav1d is markedly faster than other open-source AV1 decoders. And it requires way less resources, making it less expensive to include in such products as mobile phone and desktop apps.

Single threaded, dav1d is 2 times faster than common AV1 decoders on PCs, and 50% faster on mobile. Multi-threaded, dav1d is 3 to 5 times faster.
